Willie B grew up on a ranch near Sweetwater, Texas, with the great taste of Tex-Mex a part of his life since the time he was knee high to an armadillo. Willie soon left the ranch to try his hand in the rodeo, travelling all over the west and missing that good old Texas cooking all the while he travelled. His taste buds craved the flavor of spicy foods that his Momma fed to him from the very beginning. You see, Momma believed in the healing powers of natural vegetables and the heat of the great jalapeno. With his rodeo career, he needed all the healing help he could get. Once his Momma passed on to the great cocina in the sky, Willie lit out in search of that great taste that would help fill that void in his life. Boy, was he surprised by what he found! Almost all the salsas and Tex-Mex products on the market contained either vinegar, water, taste killing preservatives, or all of the above!! He felt like a man trapped in the Big Bend wilderness without water!! Well, this would never do!! He just had to have that great, homemade taste that Momma had always given him. So, he quit the rodeo, dug through Momma's old recipes until he found just the right ones. Oh, how his taste buds danced. Then, he got an epiphany. He couldn't keep this joyful experience to himself, he just had to take it to the world and allow them to share in his joy. He is sure to this day that this was his Momma talking to him from above. Meanwhile, he married his sweetheart.....a gal from Rockwall he met at the Mesquite Rodeo during his bull ridin' days, breaking the hearts of more than a handful of barrel-racing cowgirls. So, Willie B's Gourmet Foods was born, and the rest is history. Willie B's When good just ain't good enough!!! |
